Musical Monday *HEART BREAKER*

Image
I'm not a great writer and that is why I tend to keep my posts fairly short. However today, with this meme I want to take the opportunity to express the way I feel about the issue of homelessness. There are lots of social issues that concern me, this one in particular really gets to me. I have walked the streets of New York and Los Angeles and have witnessed the devastation of being homeless. It boggles my mind ! I have seen people on the streets sleeping on boxes, covered in plastic bags in freezing temperatures. This on 5th Ave. in Manhattan! We're living in America. The most powerful country in the world and yet we have people living existing on our streets! What's going on? We mindlessly waste food on a daily basis, meanwhile hundreds go hungry day in and day out.We complain about all the things we don't have. But a lot of times we have much more than we even need. People need shelter, food, air, water,love...Those are our basic needs. ..many people don't have the...

Sky Watch Friday

Image
These photos are of clouds over the Hudson River. Ever since I can remember I have loved to watch clouds. When I was a little girl I used to  lay on the grass and find shapes in the clouds.I used to see bears, angels, butterfies and all sorts of wonderful things! I loved the way the clouds moved. I believed when they moved it was the Earth itself turning! I still love to cloud watch!I'm still fascinated by the shapes and the way those fluffy clouds  move across the sky! I did this meme through Skywatch Friday, but I don't know yet how to link!=(

A CANDLE AND PRAYERS~in remembrance of September 11th, 2001

Image
In remembrance of those who lost their lives on this devastating day, September 11, 2001 . My prayers go out to the families who have lost loved ones and to the survivors of the attacks,to all those that did service, to every single person affected. We were all changed by this event.May we find strength to carry on with hope for peace always in our hearts.                                                                        Shinto Prayer for Peace Although the people living across the ocean surrounding us, I believe, are all our brothers and sisters, why are there constant troubles in this world? Why do winds and waves rise in the ocean surroundi...

Sounds of Summer

Image
My favorite thing about the warm weather is being able to enjoy nature's gifts. I love the flowers and trees, the squirrels running to and fro,the blue summer skies. I especially enjoy the sounds of summer. Every morning when I get off my bus I have a hill to climb to get to work. When I reach the top, I sit for a rest and listen to the caws of the crows and the song of the birds. There have been lots of cicadas around this summer.I love to hear their spirited singing. The sound they make is beautiful and exotic. At night I enjoy sitting outdoors. When the sun has set and the noise of the day is done the crickets come out to serenade is with the sweet sound of their chirping. I find these sounds oddly comforting. They bring memories of sweet childhood summers. Summer is soon coming to an end but I will relish the summer sights and sounds as long as possible. What do you like best about Summer?

Friday Inspiration

The Starfish Story adapted from The Star Thrower    by Loren Eiseley (1907 - 1977) Once upon a time, there was a wise man who used to go to the ocean to do his writing. He had a habit of walking on the beach before he began his work. One day, as he was walking along the shore, he looked down the beach and saw a human figure moving like a dancer. He smiled to himself at the thought of someone who would dance to the day, and so, he walked faster to catch up. As he got closer, he noticed that the figure was that of a young man, and that what he was doing was not dancing at all. The young man was reaching down to the shore, picking up small objects, and throwing them into the ocean. He came closer still and called out "Good morning! May I ask what it is that you are doing?" The young man paused, looked up, and replied "Throwing starfish into the ocean." "I must ask, then, why are you throwing starfish into the ocean?" asked the somewhat startled wise man. ...
