Musical Monday:Man in the Mirror


This is the last Monday of 2009!I have to be honest...I'm glad a new year is coming.2009 has been a trying year.I don't forget my blessings ever but it's definitely been a toughie in many areas and I look forward to 2010 being a better year.I know that for the coming year I want to do more volunteer work.Helping others has always helped me.
I forget about my troubles .That is tremendously healing to my soul.I also need to work on my Hands 4 Peace project which I totally neglected in 2009.I have always felt that I was born with a mission. ...to make a difference even in the smallest of ways,and that's what I want to do.I realize that in order to help others I need to start with myself.Start with the (wo)man in the mirror!

    Good for you! That sounds like a great goal to strive for in the New Year. If everyone could strive to improve themselves to be a little kinder and lend a helping hand to another, the world would be such a better place. :-)

Artist of the Week :Frida Kahlo

Happy Sunday! I decided to start an "Artist of the Week " post to do on Sundays!It's a good way to learn more about the  different styles of each artist. This week in keeping with my Mexico theme, I will feature the  fabulous    Frida Kahlo : Frida was born on  July 6th, 1907 in Coyoacan, Mexico to a Hungarian-Jewish father a nd a mother of Spanish and Mexican Indian descent. She was one of four daughters. Frida did not plan to become an artist .She had been studying Medicine at the " Escuela Nacional Preparatoria" in Mexico City. Out of 2000 students, Frida was one of only 35 women accepted into the prestigious institution. However in 1925  at the age she was severely injured in a bus accident in  which she suffers fractures to her spine, collarbone and ribs, a shattered pelvis, and shoulder and foot injuries.
