Peacefully Chaotic

It's been a while since I have posted an "artist of the week" . I would like to make today's post about  Teesha Moore and her unique style. She is a mixed media artist  and the co-creator of "Zettiology" along with her husband Tracy Moore who is also an  amazing artist. Teesha creates colorful & highly imaginative journal pages. Teesha gives us a glimpse of the things that go on in her mind on these journal  pages. I just love her work! These are pages from her journals! So colorful !It inspires me! LOVE this creature! Fernando Botero Fernando Botero Angulo (born April 19, 1932)born in Medellin Colombia. "By combining Renaissance and Baroque painting techniques with the colonial tradition of Latin America, Botero creates a figurative painting style that is universal in its appeal. He captures intimate moments in life - a woman bathing, a men's card game or a family posing for a photograph - depicting plump, nonchalant figures in everyday scenes.  Mr. Botero studied in Madrid at the San Fernando Academy, and in Florence where he learned the fresco techniques of the Italian masters." Botero explains his use of these "large people", as they are often called by critics, in the following way: "An artist is attracted to certain kinds of form without knowing why. You adopt a position intuitively; only later do you attempt to rationalize or even justify it."

Being that "Hispanic Heritage Month" is celebrated from September 15 through October 15th I will be featuring  art by Hispanic artists . José Mejía Vides 1903 -1993 This artist is from the tiny country of El Salvador in Central America. He was famous for depicting small town life in his paintings.

Happy Sunday! I decided to start an "Artist of the Week " post to do on Sundays!It's a good way to learn more about the  different styles of each artist. This week in keeping with my Mexico theme, I will feature the  fabulous    Frida Kahlo : Frida was born on  July 6th, 1907 in Coyoacan, Mexico to a Hungarian-Jewish father a nd a mother of Spanish and Mexican Indian descent. She was one of four daughters. Frida did not plan to become an artist .She had been studying Medicine at the " Escuela Nacional Preparatoria" in Mexico City. Out of 2000 students, Frida was one of only 35 women accepted into the prestigious institution. However in 1925  at the age she was severely injured in a bus accident in  which she suffers fractures to her spine, collarbone and ribs, a shattered pelvis, and shoulder and foot injuries.
